MMOexp POE: Timing the Delirium Mirror

When you finish a map, there is a chance to spawn anomaly maps in the bottom left area of the Atlas. These include Gambling District, Mayor's Planned Heist, and other high-value maps.

This guide presents a highly profitable delirium orb farming strategy that generates 30 divines per hour using a unique scarab combination. Unlike the classic approach using five Paranoia scarabs, this method combines four Paranoia with one Neurosis to achieve higher rewards per map. Based on 60 tested maps across multiple sessions, the strategy delivers consistent profit primarily from delirium orbs, with additional income from anomaly maps spawned during fast clears. Average map clear time is just over one minute, making this one of POE currency the most efficient farming methods available.

Strategy Overview

Why This Strategy Works

Delirium orb farming becomes exceptionally profitable whenever delirium orbs are expensive. However, the classic five-Paranoia approach has become less effective because scarab prices have increased significantly as more players adopted the strategy. Paranoia scarabs now cost approximately 13 divines per hour, eating heavily into profits.

By replacing one Paranoia with a Neurosis scarab, you sacrifice some clear speed but gain substantially higher rewards per map. While classic runs finished each map in 30 seconds, this setup takes about one minute average. The increased reward layers more than compensate for the extra time, resulting in higher overall profit.

Profit Breakdown

Testing across three sessions of 20 maps each showed raw profits of 40, 44, and 55 divines per hour before map costs. After subtracting map prep costs of roughly 5.5 divines per 20 maps, the actual profit per hour was approximately 30 divines. This profit comes primarily from delirium orbs, providing consistent returns without relying on lucky drops.

Additionally, the strategy generates significant extra profit from anomaly maps. Running maps extremely fast, you spawn frequent anomaly maps like Gambling District, Mayor's Planned Heist, and other high-value zones. These drop high-tier currency and valuable items including Replica Alberon's Warpath. When including anomaly map profits, the actual earnings can reach 60 divines per hour.

Scarab and Map Setup

Scarab Configuration

Use four Delirium Scarab of Paranoia and one Delirium Scarab of Neurosis in each map. The Paranoia scarabs add extra delirium layers and rewards. The Neurosis scarab guarantees additional unique delirium boss encounters. Each boss killed provides one extra reward layer, and when combined with the Neurosis effect, you can encounter multiple bosses in a single map.

This combination outperforms both the classic four-Paranoia-one-Maniac and five-Paranoia setups. The Neurosis effect works independently with the Atlas passive nodes, allowing you to sometimes encounter three bosses naturally in addition to the guaranteed ones.

Map Selection

Run any tier 16 eight-mod corrupted rare maps. Do not spend time carefully selecting maps—bulk buy any eight-mod T16 maps available. They are dirt cheap and take approximately one to two minutes to purchase 20, 40, or 60 maps. The map prep time is essentially zero.

Run eight-mod maps rather than white maps for three reasons. First, higher monster pack size spawns more monsters, helping fill the delirium bar faster. Second, the increased item quantity scales the chance to spawn anomaly maps. Third, while not included in Wealthy Exile calculations, you get substantial profit from anomaly maps that scales with map quantity.

Run City Square specifically. This layout is one of the best for delirium orb farming due to its predictable structure and easy navigation.

Atlas Tree Setup

Core Nodes to Take

Do not take any Astrolabe nodes. Astrolabe prices have become too expensive to justify the investment.

Take all delirium nodes that provide extra delirium orbs, reward layers, and reward frequency. Even when playing with Neurosis scarabs, the chance to naturally spawn boss monsters works independently. Taking these nodes means you can sometimes encounter three bosses in a single map.

Prioritize nodes that increase the number of monster packs in the map. More monsters help fill the delirium bar faster, which is the key to maximizing reward layers.

Nodes to Skip

Skip all Astrolabe-related nodes entirely. The cost-benefit ratio no longer makes them worthwhile for this strategy.

Running the Maps

Layout Navigation

City Square has a simple and consistent layout that becomes easy to memorize after a few runs. The center area of the map is relatively empty of monsters. The corner areas contain the majority of monster packs.

When you enter the map, start by clearing one corner area. Kill monsters as efficiently as possible. Delirium bosses spawn randomly, so when you encounter one, kill it immediately to get the reward layer bonus.

After clearing the corner areas and filling the delirium bar, head to the center area to kill the three boss monsters. Killing each boss grants plus one to the delirium reward count. After killing all three, finish the delirium encounter, collect rewards, and leave the map.

Clear Speed and Timer

The target clear time is approximately one minute per map. Faster builds can complete maps in 30 to 40 seconds. Slower builds will see reduced profits but can still earn 10–25 divines per hour.

Your build speed directly affects your hourly profit. A Zoomer build will exceed 30 divines per hour, while a slower build might earn 15–20 divines per hour. Regardless of speed, the consistent delirium orb drops ensure every map remains profitable.

Timing the Delirium Mirror

When you enter the map and activate the mirror of delirium, wait one or two seconds for the shockwave effect to complete. After the shockwave, wait one or two more seconds before starting to kill monsters. This timing ensures you maximize the delirium bar filling.

Filling the delirium bar is fastest and easiest at the start. As the reward layers progress, filling becomes progressively harder and slower. Focus on clearing monster-dense areas early to build momentum.

Handling Delirium Bosses

Delirium bosses spawn randomly during the map. When you see one, kill it immediately. If you wait too long, the boss will despawn and you will lose the reward layer bonus.

With Neurosis scarabs, you have guaranteed unique delirium monster encounters. Sometimes you will see only one boss, which is fine. Continue clearing and more will spawn. The Atlas passive nodes sometimes generate additional boss spawns naturally, stacking with the Neurosis guarantee.

Finishing the Map

After clearing the corner areas and the center boss area, finish the delirium encounter. Use the hotkey to end the encounter when you are ready. The delirium rewards will spawn, including delirium orbs, maps, currency, oils, and scarabs. These drops constitute your primary profit.

Collect the rewards, leave the map, and start the next one immediately. Maintain the fast pace to maximize your hourly profit.

Anomaly Maps

What They Are

When you finish a map, there is a chance to spawn anomaly maps in the bottom left area of the Atlas. These include Gambling District, Mayor's Planned Heist, and other high-value maps. They are worth running immediately because they drop high-tier currency and valuable unique items.

When to Run Them

Run anomaly maps immediately when they appear. The spawn chance works independently, so waiting for multiple anomaly maps to accumulate does not increase the chance of spawning specific ones. Run them right away and return to your delirium farming session.

Why City Square

City Square is the preferred map for this strategy partly because of the high value of anomaly maps that spawn from this region. Combined with the fast clear speed of the City Square layout, you will spawn a high volume of anomaly maps in a short time. The high quantity from buy Path of exile currency eight-mod maps further increases the spawn rate.
