The name Oitijhyo means heritage. Heritage is not only what we receive from the past. It is also what we choose to preserve, reinterpret and share with the next generation. With this vision, Oitijhyo is bringing its first Sharodiya Durgotsav to Hinjewadi Phase 2 from October 16 to 21, 2026.
The celebration aims to create a cultural home for residents while welcoming people from every community.
From IT Destination to Living Neighbourhood
Hinjewadi has transformed significantly since the development of Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park in the 1990s. Today, the area has grown beyond offices and technology campuses. Residential societies, schools, shopping centres, restaurants and community spaces have made Hinjewadi a rapidly developing neighbourhood.
Families are raising children here. Professionals are buying homes. Senior citizens are visiting their families for longer stays. Residents from different parts of India are learning to share the same neighbourhood.
Infrastructure projects such as PMRDA's Metro Line 3 are also expected to strengthen Hinjewadi's connection with the wider Pune region.
Yet infrastructure alone cannot create belonging.

Why Durga Puja Matters

Oitijhyo is not being created in opposition to existing Durga Puja celebrations. It aims to create a distinct, resident-led platform in Hinjewadi Phase 2 focused on participation, cultural continuity and community connection.
Residents can participate through volunteering, cultural performances, children's activities, decoration, event coordination and other initiatives.
The goal is simple: people should not only attend the festival; they should feel that they helped create it.
The association also hopes to build year-round opportunities around music, literature, art, social service and local talent. Durga Puja is the beginning of this journey, not its end.
Celebrating Women's Power
Women's leadership is another important part of Oitijhyo's vision.
Durga represents strength, courage and the power to overcome injustice. Through its 51 Nari Shakti initiative, Oitijhyo aims to recognise women from different walks of life — including professionals, entrepreneurs, teachers, homemakers, students, artists and caregivers.
For Oitijhyo, Nari Shakti is not merely a theme. It represents participation, responsibility and leadership.
By highlighting women's contributions, the association hopes to celebrate feminine strength both through the festival and within the community organising it.
