Growing Muslim spending power has not gone unnoticed in the luxury fashion market. The Chanel boutique on Rodeo Drive recently featured mannequins donning colourful hijabs, following a slew of brands including DKNY and Tommy Hilfiger, who have launched capsule collections targeting Muslim shoppers. Dolce & Gabbana also launched a line of hijabs and abayas in January, sold only in the Middle East, London and Paris. The collection was well received, with Forbes describing it as the brand’s “smartest move in years”, adding that inclusiveness makes both financial and cultural sense.
