When you land a critical hit, the game triggers a timer that marks the hit as “recent”—specifically, it refers to the last 4 seconds. During this time window, all of your elemental damage gains a 40% bonus. This bonus isn't limited to the hit that triggered the effect—it boosts all elemental output, regardless of whether those subsequent hits are critical.
That means even if your main skill doesn’t usually crit—say, a fire-based damage-over-time (DoT) effect—you’ll still benefit from Storm Charge as long as you’ve recently landed a critical hit with any other ability.
For example, a player using a buy POE 2 Currency wand to cast lightning spells might crit with one hit and then enjoy four seconds of enhanced elemental damage on all their other abilities—even those that don’t critically strike.
In addition, the 20% increased critical chance component makes it easier to consistently re-trigger Storm Charge. This bonus applies globally, enhancing your chances to keep the elemental damage buff active with little downtime in extended fights.
