They previously held a record of a sub-30-minute timed run that was 29 minutes and 49 seconds. It was published on Elden Ring Runes the 14th of March. That run was their fifth straight world record for an "Any%" Elden Ring speedrun.
These leaderboards from Elden Ring on Speedrun.com have been locked, and although Distortion2's run isn't yet marked the sub-20-minute time, it is easily the fastest for any category. It's the same for the Dark Souls-dedicated speedrunning website SpeedSouls.com with Distortion2's run beats all other competitors. Distortion2 was so committed to this run of less than 20 minutes, they wrote in the video's description via Twitter on Twitter that they "changed the flight and ran 15 hours of stream" just to grind out and publish this incredible time.
I love watching folks perform amazing gaming feats. It's why I love esports. However, those Elden Ring speedruns are becoming too to much. I'm not able to keep up! I'm now expecting someone to be able to glitch from the start to the Limgrave region up to the final boss and beat the game in like, I don't know 60 seconds.
But, the thing I love most about the spirit of the Lone Wolf ashes is their loyalty. Certain, the summons are there for you to follow after being requested. But there's something especially endearing when you watch these big-ass creatures adrift behind you, searching for the next victim to take their claws at. They're also known to strike as a team with coordinated strikes to keep their enemies out. These wolves are helpful nearly every day and are always there for you, even if they are eventually taken away one at a time.
I've gotten so attached that I've unofficially named them after the real-life doggos from Tim Burton films: Persephone and Sparky from Frankenweenie as well as Zero of The Nightmare Before Christmas. It's just a bummer you're not able to pet them, as well as teach them tricks. But then again, they're ghosts. I guess interacting with them would be impossible, but maybe there's an item in cheap Elden Ring Runes the game for such a thing.
