Arc Raiders Players make a plea for Embark

Don't let PvP tris poison your solo, "aggression based", matchmaking reputation. But frankly I don’t buy it

Humans rarely change faster than when you go from a single run in Arc Raiders where you feel isolated and frightened to a group raid where you, emboldened and encouraged by your friends offer others the deal they've been waiting for: I'll spare you your arc raiders materials and do it all for just a handful of bullets.

Trios can be a very different game. You’ll find more aggressive players in a group. Arc Raiders players are now burdened by the expanded "aggression" matchmaking, which matches PvP psychos alongside their brethren and pacifists with herbivores.

MishRift says that the "Aggression in Trio Does Not Affect Your Solo Experience" in a recent post. The user MishRift argues that your friend’s PvP addiction should not put you into a shark-tank when you return to the peaceful solo runs you are used to.

The evidence may be anecdotal – “I noticed after I played with my aggressive triple friends (I’m new so my account is brand-new) that my single matches are now way more competitive” – but the argument still holds interest, if not only for the demonstration of what is likely to happen when Embark reveals and makes this matchmaking adjustment: players who want to take advantage of the change, even if all they know is a tiny part of it.

The top reply of the first comment on this post, which is in favor separate aggression ratings, makes it clear. User Traditional Row7925 recommends that after you've been on a murder spree with a trio, go in alone naked and surrender at least 6-7 times. "Do one free loadout, to check that it worked. Start spamming "no shoot" and you'll start hearing people reply. The friendly pool is back. "It is not subtle at ALL."

"Agreed. When playing solo, I am much more passive. I have even saved other raiders at times. En1gmaMontoya confirms that "in trios, I enjoy PvP because the sheer number of people involved is great for learning."

"It's a good thing the way it stands." "Or else, you could have aggressive trios switching to solos just to get trigger nades for their trios or other gear to make them even more aggressive," says MRjubjub.

Most of it is just human selfishness. Some people like to have both worlds - a lot of PvP loot and never having a gun pointed directly at them. Playing with three people? It is obvious. Would you rather die in a secluded room while still having your pockets full, or sneak away with a full pocket and then die? This essay will argue that PvP harms the game.

I can accept the argument that other players, and especially random players in autofilled teams, could tank your reputation. Although you can choose to not use auto-fill and tell your friends about it, the main issue is the fact that the other player has put you in the tank. Although you knew full well that the trio raids are more PvP-friendly, you still played with them.

It seems that the matchmaking system we use is self-correcting. If you don’t want to play PvP in the game, then just don’t. Soon enough, you’ll see less and less of it. In this instance, playing the game according to your own preferences is natural. However, it can cause problems and make it feel artificial when people harm their experience or try to hide amongst a group of other players. In that case, you’re not actually playing the game. Instead, you’re attempting to simulate a version of it. It's a wonderful opportunity to self-sabotage. Embark: 'I avoided PvP at any cost, why do I still get shot at?" "Why am I still getting shot at?" asks the raider. It's a always-and-forever PvP game.

Redditor squidsauce put it very well when he said: "I'm not changing my playstyle after thinking about it for a while." What is, is. If I believe someone to be aggressive, I shoot. If not then I won't. I don't have a care for this autobalancing script." It's a fact: I'm not going to apologize for being the PvP-goblin that messes up my friend's group's matches.
