The initiative of the Municipality of Crema (Italy) to ask for the Nobel Peace Prize for Brigade Henry Reeves Cuban doctors, who came to Italy bringing their medical skills, their friendship, their solidarity and their enthusiasm, is beautiful and very right. "Upon the invitation of the Italy-Cuba association - Mayor Stefania Bonaldi explained - we too will support the brigade's candidacy for the Nobel Peace Prize".
We all remember them, when smiling and greeting, in the best Latino tradition, the fifty-two doctors left Havana and reached Piedmont and Lombardy, during the terrible health emergency. We will all remember them as well, with emotion, when they enthusiastically responded to Italy's appeal with their Henry Reeves Brigade named after, although it could be strange, to an American who fought for the independence of Cuba from Spain in 1876.
Cuba has been making internationalist solidarity as its flag for over 60 years. It is a small island that, despite decades of embargo, never stopped hoping, living and working, overcoming enormous obstacles. Therefore, the strength and courage of Cubans in facing catastrophes and epidemics around the world must not surprise.
The skills, competences and seriousness of Cuban doctors are well known in the whole world. The "Brigada Henry Reeves" employs highly specialized personnel, often acting in many areas of the world, it brings not only care but also solidarity and humanity, expressed in particular in Italy, where healthcare suffered several cuts in funds and needed therefore urgent help which, generously, the Cuban doctors gave.
We too, therefore, as Speranza-Madre Russia Association, join the appeal of Crema’s Municipality and other associations, so that this important recognition is granted to Cuban doctors, at the end of their path that, since 2005, led them to take care of the patients of different countries and different religions, all over the world, with the spirit of self-sacrifice and, last but not least, with courage, given the scenarios in which these doctors operate.
Declaration

The "Speranza" Italian-Russian Friendship Association, registered in Rome (Italy), on October 24th, 2014 with registration number 15107, series 3, supports the initiative of French public organizations, "Cuba Linda", the France-Cuba Friendship Association "and the initiative of the Municipality of Crema (Italy), upon the invitation of " Italia-Cuba "association, to let the Cuban Medical Unit be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize" International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Natural Disasters and Serious Epidemics Henry Reeve ”, for high merits in the field.
With the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the world in 2020, the first rushing to help Italy and the last to leave, were Cuban doctors when our country was in the midst of the pandemic and they worked tirelessly in the area with the highest density of infections.
We would like to remind you that, today, there are more than four thousand Cuban doctors in 45 teams, who work in 40 countries, saving hundreds of thousands of lives in Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. For these reasons and given the courage and solidarity shown by these doctors in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, we respectfully ask the Nobel Committee that the Cuban Medical Unit, "International Contingent of Specialized Doctors in Natural Disasters and Serious Epidemics Henry Reeve " is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

We hope, that our appeal too, will lead to a positive outcome.

Best regards.
